Steeple Repair Fundraiser
Our beautiful steeple is in need of repair. We recently learned that some of the slate tiles have come loose and are in need of replacing. In addition there is some simple maintenance that can be done to ensure the existing tiles remain fixed in place. This work was an unexpected cost that was not in our existing budget and requires a quick turnaround to keep our neighbours safe.
The total cost of repair is $15,000 which (Lord willing) we hope to raise by the end of the month.
We are calling upon congregants, their friends and family, as well as the wider church and city to consider how they can contribute to this repair. Any amount is greatly appreciated, as are prayers for provision.
Below you’ll see some pictures of the problem, as well as ways you can donate. Thank you for your attention.
Mid-December Update: We are thrilled to announce that, through the faithful giving of our congregation and the faithfulness of God’s leading, we have raised the $15,000 necessary to take the next steps required. We will inform the congregation once the repairs begin and we have a sense of next steps. In the meantime we still welcome you to give to our building project if you so feel led. This steeple will require further work in future and, just in December, two of our furnaces have needed repair. Every dollar you give will continue to go towards the restoration of this 130 year old sanctuary and the ongoing ministry of worship and witness at 130 Victoria Ave N.

The pictures above were taken recently by contractors brought in by our Building Committee. The Committee talked to several potential contractors before recommending our current option. You can see the loose shingles that need to be cleaned up, as well as a piece of metal that recently came loose from the side of the building.
The contractors we’ve spoken to would be able to repair the missing tiles and strengthen the existing ones, while also replacing the piece of metal that broke off the tower. This would solve the existing problems and put us in position to form a longer term strategy for maintaining this valuable part of our building and neighbourhood. This will not be the final fundraiser for the steeple, but if we can secure it well in the next month we should have plenty of time to form a longer term solution while ensuring our neighbours and those passing below are safe.
If you have further questions feel free to contact our board of elders (elders@eucharistchurch.ca) or ask questions on a Sunday.
