C.S.Lewis and the Worldview of Narnia – John Bowen
Many people know the Narnia stories, but not everybody knows the nourishing, resilient vision of Christian faith that underlies it. (And I don’t just mean Aslan = Jesus!) Lewis is actually painting a picture of the world, and of what it means to be a Christian, that can shape us and direct us in life-giving ways today.
Let's Explore the Enneagram – Sue Hamilton - CLASS FULL!
REGISTRATION FOR THIS CLASS HAS NOW CLOSED. TOO FULL! MAYBE NEXT YEAR :)
The Enneagram is a powerful tool for personal and collective transformation. Stemming from the Greek words ennea (nine) and grammos (a written symbol), the nine-pointed Enneagram symbol represents nine distinct strategies for relating to the self, others and the world. Each Enneagram type has a different pattern of thinking, feeling and acting that arises from a deeper inner motivation or worldview.
During our time together, we will explore what number we lead with; our wings and directional pulls; how the enneagram impacts relationships, and most importantly, how knowing ourselves better allows us to be more open to the promptings of God in our lives. There will be ample wiggle room to discuss issues which might arise as part of our evenings. I will be inviting people from the community, representing the different numbers, to share their experience of the Enneagram giving an opportunity for more questions and discussions.
The Word's Words: How Do We Read Scripture? – Steve Edwards
This is a class about reading the Bible. How do we read it? How is it organized? Is it interesting? Is it *supposed* to be interesting? Are there themes to trace? What's the point? Does it *do* anything? What if I get lost? Discouraged?
We will take a glance at each of these questions by looking at some themes and by doing group exploration of some wide-ranging biblical passages to try and see connections and get a glimpse at how God is working in these Words given by his Word - his son Jesus Christ! Suggestions for well-worn patterns of devotional reading will also be provided. If you don't have a Bible please let Stephen Edwards know beforehand and we'll get you one prior to the class.
Easing Into Contemplation – Bob Mather-Dyer
Want a closer walk with God, but unsure where to start?
Join spiritual director Bob Mather-Dyer on a four week journey into God’s presence. The class touches on our images of God, how to psalms can overwhelm us with an awareness of God’s love, how to explore the Mystery of God, and what it means to “hang out with Jesus” in a form of Ignition Contemplation. Whatever your level of experience with prayer and contemplation, this is a great and accessible class for all who want to experience God anew!
