Romans: Encountering the Gospel's Power
Adam Rudy w/ Ryan Killeen and Rob Miller
Sunday Nights starting April 24 @6:30 PM (to be confirmed) @ the Manse
How should the church interact with worldly empires? What does it mean to be “one Body” in a multicultural society? What is Christian freedom? What does “being reconciled with God” actually mean, anyway? In this class, we'll be taking a look at the questions and struggles that prompted Paul to write his epistle to the Romans – and how the framework he laid out addressed not only the problems of the church in Rome, but also many of the issues we face in Hamilton.
(Re) Introduction to Christianity
Tuesday Nights starting April 26th - May 24th @ 7PM @ the Manse
This class aims to introduce (or re-introduce) people to the Big Story of Scripture, and the movement we know as Christianity. What is the bible about? What is the story of our faith? What does it mean to be a Christian? If you are interested in being baptized, this would be a great class to take!
Teach us to Pray
Peter Giokas w/ Sandy Giokas
Wednesday Nights starting April 27 - June 1st (extra week!) @ 7 PM @ the Manse
Based on the Lord's Prayer, it will be both an introduction to prayer for those wanting to learn and grow in their practice this vital discipline. And it will also be an opportunity to grow deeper into intimacy with Christ through prayer. We will be using the 'Prayer Course' materials from the Alpha program out of England. Come one, come all. Life transformation awaits.
Spiritual Disciplines: the Life of the Christian and the Work of God
Wednesday Nights starting April 27 - May 25 @ 7 PM @ the Manse
God is present and actively at work in our lives as his Spirit both reveals his heart of love for us, as well as transforms our own character into greater likeness with that of his Son Jesus Christ. One way the Spirit does this is as we engage fruitfully with the practices of spiritual disciplines received in the Christian traditions. We will explore a comprehensive range of these practices (see esp. Richard Foster's "Celebration of Discipline") and be encouraged to enrich our own practice or try them for the first time.
